BIENVENUE A MAKRY GIALOS - CRETE

Une autre fois a Makri Gialos et je suis toujours aussi triste de partir.
Pas de changement, sauf beaucoup de constructions, pas toujours du meilleur gout, mais les gens sont toujours aussi accueillants. Le cafe Olympio fait les meilleurs Dacos!
Juste un petit regret: cela fait 10 ans que nous venons et les courses d'escargots organisees par le celebre Dimitri et son ami Irish John auront lieu le lendemain de notre depart.
Venez, vous ne le regretterez pas, la plage est superbe et les locaux supers. Si vous ne parlez pas Grec, Anglais ou Allemand prenez un dictionnaire. le francais n'est pas la langue d'usage.

CARNIVAL 2008

The villages of Makri Gialos, Koutsouras and Goudouras come together before Lent to celebrate Carnival. Much hard work went into preparing the floats and costumes for this years event which took place on 9th March in Makri Gialos.

Poking fun at those in power, as well as celebrating topical events was evident in this years procession and as the film shows a GRAND time was had by all.

CASA DE MEZZO MUSIC FESTIVAL

Having attended the Casa dei Mezzo Music Festival each year I can thoroughly recommend this event. There is a wide variety of music which should suit every taste and the atmosphere, whether the event is held at Casa dei Mezzo, Makri Yialos Harbour or Villea Village Hotel, is magical. People come from far and wide to attend these concerts and it really is an event not to be missed.

MAKRYGIALOS BY NIGHT

Two new boats arrived in Makry Gialos

Two new passenger boats arrived in Makry Gialos harbor and they will start soon trips to Koufonisi Island and Chrissi Island.

The boat SOFIA arrived today.

And the boat AETOS has been here since early April.

We wish good trips to them.

Chrisopigi, Dafni, Kato Krya, Bebonas, Papagianades, Armenoi, Chandras, Ziros, Agia Triada from 5-20 min drive.
New villages by the coast: Lagada, Kalo Nero,
Goudouras to the east, and to the west: Koutsouras, Mavros Kolibos, Achlia, Galini, Agia Fotia, Ferma, and Koutsounari. From 5-15 min drive.

ATENTION 1. You also can find in maps etc. different spellings of our town like;

Makrigialos, Markygialos, Macrialos, Makri Gialos, Makrys Gialos, Makriyialos, Makriyalos, Makri Yalos etc.

But the correct way is into two words, (Μακρύ-Γιαλός in Greek) "Makry-Gialos".

ΑΤΕNΤΙΟΝ 2 :
Before you book a hotel or a apartment.
Make sure that is in Makry-Gialos, Crete.
Because also with the same name called as well many more places in mainland Greece and other Greek Islands.They are few Internet booking sites with this mistake as well.
