With no less than three World premières, three European premières and one Greek première, this is a programme not to be missed!

Tickets for all other concerts are €10 each with the exception of tickets for the Grand Opera/Lyric closing concert (Tuesday 26 June 21:00) which are €15 each. Many of our concerts sold out last year, so early booking is advised.

Οι Πορτοκαλί στο Μακρύ-Γιαλό.

Μια πολύ ωραία ιδέα που γίνεται στο Μακρύ-Γιαλό, επίσης αυτές τις μέρες είναι εκείνη των Ολλανδών που παραθερίζουν ή ζουν και εργάζονται στην ευρύτερη περιοχή του διηρημένου πρώην Δήμου του Μακρύ-Γιαλού.
Συγκεντρώνονται σε κάθε παιχνίδι της εθνικής ομάδας της Ολλανδίας στο Cafe Olympio της πόλης μας, για παρακολουθούν τους αγώνες των Πορτοκαλί, της εθνικής τους ομάδας. Στολισμένο το καφέ κάθε φορά στα πορτοκάλια, το εθνικό χρώμα της πατρίδας τους βιώνουν κατά τον καλύτερο τρόπο τη γιορτή του ποδοσφαίρου.

Η πρωτοβουλία αυτή που ξεκίνησε από τους φίλους μας Φρεντ και Ινγκε από την Ολλανδία που μένουν στον Μαύρο Κόλυμπο, και οι οποία είχαν αυτή την ωραία ιδέα από το EYRO 2008.
Κατά την διάρκεια του αγώνα επίσης προσφέρουν σε όλους τους παραβρισκόμενους τοπικόύς Ολλανδικούς μεζέδες.

Αν και οι Ολλανδοί δεν έχουν φέτος τύχη, μέχρι στιγμή στο ευρωπαϊκό πρωτάθλημα ποδοσφαίρου, το ωραίο πνεύμα και ο ποδοσφαιρικός πολιτισμός τον οποίο επιδεικνύουν δείχνει μια ωραία εικόνα στην καλοκαιρινή ατμόσφαιρα του χωριού μας.

If you want to avoid manicured resorts, like getting away from it all (but not too far), and dislike crowds on holiday, then Makry-Gialos is the place for you.

The name "Makry-Gialos" means "long beach".
Behind Makry-Gialos lie rolling hills with delightful panoramic views from out of the way villages where you can experience genuine ethnic cuisine. You’ll
have a great time sampling locally produced fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, wine, and of course the finest olive oil in the World.
This is a tourist spot that is hardly touched by the package holiday trade as local planning aims to protect the local culture and prevent large scale
development. There are of course some hotels, and these allow our guests to take advantage of their facilities, such as tennis courts, mini-golf, beach sports, and internet cafe.

Pefki Gorge by feet 2 + 2 hrs up and down, from Aspros Potamos.
Perivoloakia Gorge, 15 min drive and then 2 + 2 hrs byfeet.

Tranditional mountain villages of : Agios Stefanos,
Pefki, Lithines, Pervolakia, Stavrochori, Oreino, Shinokapsala, Agios Ioannis,
Chrisopigi, Dafni, Kato Krya, Bebonas, Papagianades, Armenoi, Chandras, Ziros, Agia Triada from 5-20 min drive.
New villages by the coast: Lagada, Kalo Nero,
Goudouras to the east, and to the west: Koutsouras, Mavros Kolibos, Achlia, Galini, Agia Fotia, Ferma, and Koutsounari. From 5-15 min drive.

ATENTION 1. You also can find in maps etc. different spellings of our town like;

Makrigialos, Markygialos, Macrialos, Makri Gialos, Makrys Gialos, Makriyialos, Makriyalos, Makri Yalos etc.

But the correct way is into two words, (Μακρύ-Γιαλός in Greek) "Makry-Gialos".

ΑΤΕNΤΙΟΝ 2 :
Before you book a hotel or a apartment.
Make sure that is in Makry-Gialos, Crete.
Because also with the same name called as well many more places in mainland Greece and other Greek Islands.They are few Internet booking sites with this mistake as well.
