Mikri Poli, new hotel under constraction. 23 may 2008

New developments this year have included the new village footpath, and now we have the new hotel at the top of the village, Mikri Poli will be an all inclusive resort next to the well established Sun Wing.
Work has been non stop all winter,and at this time we still have more than 400 workers , working flat out. We understand that it is hoped the new hotel will be operational by early July, and will include access to one of the best beaches in the village.

A group of children from Makry Gialos region and Ierapetra town partiapating in a Chess competition beside the harbour in Makry Gialos on Sunday 19 May 2008.
They were competing for a cup and runner-up medals.
Each child was equipped with a chocolate bar and a bottle

of water to help their concentration!

Easter celebrations KALO PASCHA

27th April 2008
Easter Sunday was spent with Dimitris, Chara, their family and friends. (Follow the above link for video of the event.)

Dimitris roasted a lamb on the spit, using the beach as a kitchen. It was a little on the cool side at times but copious amounts of wine soon solved that little problem.

A NEW PAVEMENT IN MAKRY GIALOS,

A new pavement in Makry Gialos

A new pedestrianization is going on at moment in Makry Gialos main road. This start from the harbor entrance, and it is going to end out of the new Hotel next to Sunwing.

The largest problem of Makry Gialos start to find a solution, the sidewalk. And new more big problem coming up, the parking space. Not any parking left in the town.
We should use this year the bypass new road for parking.

New villages by the coast: Lagada, Kalo Nero,
Goudouras to the east, and to the west: Koutsouras, Mavros Kolibos, Achlia, Galini, Agia Fotia, Ferma, and Koutsounari. From 5-15 min drive.

ATENTION 1. You also can find in maps etc. different spellings of our town like;

Makrigialos, Markygialos, Macrialos, Makri Gialos, Makrys Gialos, Makriyialos, Makriyalos, Makri Yalos etc.

But the correct way is into two words, (Μακρύ-Γιαλός in Greek) "Makry-Gialos".

ΑΤΕNΤΙΟΝ 2 :
Before you book a hotel or a apartment.
Make sure that is in Makry-Gialos, Crete.
Because also with the same name called as well many more places in mainland Greece and other Greek Islands.They are few Internet booking sites with this mistake as well.
