Makry-Gialos Crete

Ο Μακρύς Γιαλός δεν υπάρχει πιά. (τον πάτησε το τραίνο) ούτε για την Γεράπετρο ούτε για την Στεία.
Έγινε Μικρός Γιαλός στην ουσία.
Στην πραγματικότητα πολύ μικρός.
Οχι μόνο γιατί, οι Κομματοπατέρες τον έκοψαν μεζεδάκι, για την όρεξη. (Στειακό και Γεραπετρίτικο)
Επίσης οι νέοι Σωτήρες γιά άλλη μιά φορά βοήθησαν (στον Απρίλη μέσα) με τις μπουλτόζες και τα φορτηγά, την απομάκρυση του υποστρώματος, (των βοτσάλων) της ωραιότερης παραλίας της ΝΑνατολικής Κρήτης, και δεν ηταν η πρώτη φορά που έγινε αυτό.

... Ετσι, αμμώδη παραλία δεν υπάρχει για φέτος.
Σε κάποια κομματάκια που έχει μείνει λίγος άμμος, εδώ και μία βδομάδα έχει ξεσπάσει ο πόλεμος της ξαπλώστρας, μεταξύ Εγγλέζων, Γερμανών και Νορβηγών.

Tourist row has Cretan town on edge
MAKRY-GIALOS, Crete Jul 10 (ITAR-TASS) – A series of provocative moves by Makry-Gialos’ sizable community of English tourists has brought this peaceful seaside town to the precipice of an all-out holiday makers’ war.
Located on the southern coast of Greece’s largest island and surrounded by a dramatic switchback of jagged, olive grove-covered mountains and azure-blue sea, Makry-Gialos is the archetypal Cretan town. In recent years it has become a haven for tourists from Britain and northern Europe who generally come for a fortnight of quiet beachside relaxation.
In recent days, however, the town’s tranquility has been shattered by a group of irate English tourists who claim that their traditional rivals – the Scots and Germans – have violated the code of conduct for beach dwellers by seizing several sunbeds that the English say are rightfully theirs.
Reliable sources remain scarce, but reports indicate that the spat began when a young German refused to give up his sunbed to an English family with children. Incensed by what they considered to be a lack of courtesy, English families resorted to marking their territory with stones, towels, and cool boxes.
“It just goes beyond decency. I mean really…you see a young family or an elderly person and you can’t even be bothered to move. We’ll do whatever it takes to make sure we have the holiday we came here for,” an unidentified English tourist said while placing heavy stones atop his sunbed. “We have to stand up for ourselves, somehow.”
Despite being a far cry from the moors of Culloden or the deserts of El-Alamein, this most recent outburst between the ancient adversaries has rendered the local citizens of Makry-Gialos as passive participants in an age-old dispute over umbrellas and sun cream.
“I only hope this doesn’t become more than just a little misunderstanding. For us, things are already bad with the Germans. The last thing we can afford is to have problems with the English too,” an unidentified resident and local business owner said."

Επιτέλους οι Ντόπιοι Σωτήρες κατάφεραν, εξυπηρετώντας μόνο και μόνο τα προσωπικά τους συμφέροντα να επαληθεύσουν την προφητεία μας και να φέρουν σε σύντομο χρόνο το σβήσιμο του Μακρύ-Γιαλού από τον τουριστικό χάρτη.
Ο θεός να τους έχει καλά όλους αυτούς που εργάστηκαν ως Τοπικοί άρχοντες, ως Τοπικοί τουριστικοί πράκτορες, ως πρόεδροι συλλόγων ή φορέων, ως Αρχιτέκτονες μηχανικοί (αρχιτέκτονες εκτρωμάτων σε παραδοσιακούς οικισμούς), ως ξενοδόχοι πιστολέρο του τηλεχειρηστηρίου, ως ταξιντζήδες της Μερσεντές για νύφες, ως μουσικόφιλοι μπαρμενς κλπ.
