Thank you summer 2015 and especially to all of you
We’re laying off an unforgettable summer, one more we might say.
This post is mainly to thank all our friends, many repeaters year after year, but also the new ones. Friends and customers from all around the world that claim that South-East Crete is “their place” to spend their summer holidays, and Makry-Gialos Crete, their “special spot”.
As well thanks to many Greeks and Crete residents that many summer days they choose the beach of Makry-Gialos to spend a lovely beach day and enjoy our gastronomical selections at our Bars, Tavernas and Restaurants.
Your comments and suggestions are very important for us, both as well as the ones you make on Facebook or on TripAdvisor and even the ones on our Blog. Your comments and suggestions are very important for us to keep improving every day. Because is what really helping us to making our customers happy and make them to want to come back.

We also discovered Makrigialos ten years ago and now return there twice a year in the Spring and the Autumn. I used to think it incredibly boring when I heard of people going back to the same place over and over again but since discovering this charming village I don't want to go anywhere else. The villagers, the beach, the tavernas - all wonderful!

I am one of those people who has fallen in love with Makrygialos and keep coming back, but there is one thing I am not so happy about. The gastronomy! Most of the restaurants all have extremely big menues and very similar food. In my mind it is impossible to run a restaurant with 100 different dishes on the menu successfully. If I could give a word of advice I would like some of them to throw away the typical greek menu. You may serve greek food of course, but consentrate on only a few dishes and give those dishes a special touch. In stead too many restaurants serve the same. If you ask for pork for example, they will too often serve the pork. In addition you get som sloppy salad or vegetables overcooked, and a little rice, potatoes and some chips on top of it. Why? This is in my mind very, very boring. So come on you guys, give Stratos and Dragon's cave (which are two really good restaurants in my mind) more competition in the future. But thank you for 2014 and hopefully see you next year again wonderful Makrygialos!!!

If you want to avoid manicured resorts, like getting away from it all (but not too far), and dislike crowds on holiday, then Makry-Gialos is the place for you.

New villages by the coast: Lagada, Kalo Nero,
Goudouras to the east, and to the west: Koutsouras, Mavros Kolibos, Achlia, Galini, Agia Fotia, Ferma, and Koutsounari. From 5-15 min drive.

ATENTION 1. You also can find in maps etc. different spellings of our town like;

Makrigialos, Markygialos, Macrialos, Makri Gialos, Makrys Gialos, Makriyialos, Makriyalos, Makri Yalos etc.

But the correct way is into two words, (Μακρύ-Γιαλός in Greek) "Makry-Gialos".

ΑΤΕNΤΙΟΝ 2 :
Before you book a hotel or a apartment.
Make sure that is in Makry-Gialos, Crete.
Because also with the same name called as well many more places in mainland Greece and other Greek Islands.They are few Internet booking sites with this mistake as well.
